100th Annual Beef ‘n Bean Day

Celebrating our Small-Town Traditions

Art Contest Guidelines

 

General Rules

 

  • No entry fee to participate but entry is limited to one per person

  • Contest is limited to Milliken/Johnstown residents only

  • All submitted original artwork must be no larger than 8.5” x 11” (standard letter size paper)

  • Can use crayons, paint, pencils or any other type of drawing supplies 

  • Deadline to submit:  Friday, August 2, 2024

  • Location to submit:  Milliken Library (inside Mill Haus) or Milliken Town Hall 

  • Back of art work needs to include:  name, address, phone number and age of artist

    • This ensures we have blind judging of the art work

  • Art must represent one of the following categories related to our 100th year event:

    • Train        

    • Agriculture

    • History of Beef ‘n Bean Day

                    BnB Day started because a Milliken Presbyterian pastor wanted to help hungry people so he cooked                              and served pinto beans for free.  At that time, pinto beans were one of the main crops grown around.                            Milliken.  A few years later, a rancher donated beef and it became Beef ‘n Bean Day!

 

  • Once we receive your entry, you will not have access to it until judging is completed.

  • After Beef ‘n Bean Day, Glenn A. Jones MD Memorial Library will display winning art work 

 

Judging: 

 

  • The Milliken Senior Center will judge the entries and determine the winners on Friday August 9th.

  • Milliken Events Committee will display the art at TRPR inside the gym along with the winners.  Prizes awarded at BNB Day, the TRPR pavilion at 4:00pm, with the BBQ Competition Winners
